Scholar Highlights for Week Ending May 25, 2012

May 28, 2012

Kayla:

“While the African presidential Roundtable is a program not specific to mine, I do have quite a bit of input seeing as the focus is sustainable energy.  My research this past summer was focused on just that.  With the understanding that our natural resources will soon be diminished and wind, solar, and tidal energy cannot be harvested 24/7, I propose to consider the use of geothermal energy sources; particularly focusing on the deep sea hydrothermal vents in the mid Atlantic. Using this thermal energy, we can operate turbines that would produce power that can be transported to nations such as those in desperate need on the African continent.”
