We were up bright and early for our Tundra Safari Tour. We went out and hiked down to this frozen lake. While we were there we saw two reindeer chasing each other through the snow. We didn’t see any musk ox though because of over hunting in the area sadly. Afterwards we headed back to Old Camp where we had our lunch. After lunch, we went to Russel Glacier. It was pretty cold but so beautiful. We hiked about 45 minutes to get there, but once we got there the view was spectacular. We were at the calving front and it was amazing to see how much the glacier had retreated. Our class spent a few minutes in silence just listening to the glacier and nature around it. We could hear the glacier cracking and groaning. That night for dinner, we had musk ox for  dinner, and saw an arctic fox on the way there.

The next day we went out to the ice sheet. It was way below freezing, it was about 13 below zero (-25’C). While we were there, we got to take samples that we will be dating this coming week. Afterwards we had a Greenlandic buffet full of plenty of local cuisine. I can now say that I have eaten whale blubber! The next day we moved to KISS, the International Science Support facility. We got to hike around the area and see the sled dogs. We also got to meet a local family and get a better understanding of life in Greenland. Our last morning in Greenland, we went to the airport, but our flight was delayed because of fog in Nuuk. So we explored the towns 5 shops as it lightly began to snow. Finally we boarded the plane and headed back to Copenhagen where it was a balmy 50 degrees.
